My name is Steven Donoso. I am the founder and president of Jo Ann’s Treasures in Heaven. I formed this ministry in October of 2019 to minister to the homeless, ex-cons, and those struggling with addiction on the streets of Temple, Texas. We incorporated in 2023.
God rescued me from these issues, and has equipped me with the experience, the compassion and the Holy Spirit to share the love and forgiveness of Jesus with a lost and hurting people. After spending 18 and a half years in prison and struggling with addiction until 2019, I am now set free! This ministry was placed in my heart by the Lord Jesus to help those most in need.
In Luke 15 Jesus said the shepherd leaves the 99 sheep to rescue the one who is lost. “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous persons who do not need to repent.”
Who We Serve – the homeless, recovering addicts, people who struggle with recidivism, children growing up without parents, and any hurting person discarded by society.
Treasures in Heaven is incorporated and has applied for IRS designation as a charitable organization. We are asking you for your gift to give struggling people a second chance.
Who Is Steven Donoso – I once was lost, but now am found. I was a rebellious sinner struggling with drugs, alcohol, junk food, cigarettes and too many bad relationships. God let me hit bottom. I developed diabetes leaving me a double amputee and blind. I suffered a major stroke due to the use of methamphetamine leaving me partially paralyzed on my right side.
God set me free from my addictions and from a life of crime. Today, I help others achieve freedom, too.
Who is Jo Ann – Jo Ann is my mother's name. She was the one person in my life who spoke into my darkness. She told me over and over and over that I needed to be a man, work hard, take care of my wife and my children, and stay away from drugs and alcohol. If only I would have listened to my mother. That's why I named it for her. This is her vision for her children's lives.
She is my inspiration. I don't coddle anyone. I tell them the truth about the reality of their own destructive behaviors. If they're ready to give up that lifestyle, they will receive it. If they are not ready, I tell them to keep going until they get tired. When they're tired, come back to me and I’ll be there for them. I can only help those who hit bottom and want to be helped.
How You Can Help – Give today. Your donations will help us in several ways. We will use 40% for current expenses as we secure an office and meeting space. We will reserve 50% toward the purchase of buildings for use as future discipleship homes. We tithe 10% to support Israel because of Genesis 12:3.
